Rally Salento 2002
Rally of Salento, the 2002 edition, was the seventh race of the CIR (Italian Rally Championship). Almost all the entitled crews were engaging the battle in the Super 1600 class, as Paolo Andreucci (Fiat Punto), Andrea Dallavilla (Citroen Saxo), Piero Longhi (Renault Clio), Luca Pedersoli (Fiat Punto), Luigi Galli (Fiat Punto) and so on.
Only one WRC car was entitled and it was the Peugeot 206 WRC driven by Renato Travaglia and prepared by Racing Lions of the Peugeot Sport Italia.
After 18 special stages completely dominated by Paolo Andreucci, the 19th stage saw the retire of the Tuscan driver, who abandoned due to a little problem at the engine. This fact let Dallavilla get the top position in the Super 1600 category and Gigino Galli the first position in the Trofeo Fiat Punto.
