Novitec Project X-one (Dec 11th 2002)

It seems to be something really impressive the project X-One by Novitec. It has been shown at the Essen Motorshow 2002 some weeks ago, but the project car is really astonishing for the performance facts. The car starts from the basis of the Novitec Punto HGT Kompressor, which is capable of 150 kW/204 HP, an acceleration of 7.8 seconds on the 0-100 km/h, and a top speed of 239 km/h.
The Novitec made up its mind and prepared the X-one project, namely a crude beast of Punto, aided by the NOS injection and a short ratios gearbox. The car now sports 229 kW/312 HP, a 0-100 km/h in only 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 275 km/h!
Almost all the mechanical components have been updated. A Brembo brake system with 280mm disks has been installed. I hope to get more news soon.

Network Q Rally page under construction (Nov 10th 2002)

I built up the Network Q Rally 2002 page, formerly known at RAC. This is the last round of the world rally championship, which has been won prematurely by Marcus Gronholm with the Peugeot 206 WRC, which won in turn also the constructors championship, but the titles in the Super1600 has not been given yet and the fight is between two containders, the Italian Andrea Dallavilla and the Spaniard Dani Sola. Both drivers will pace with Citroen Saxo, whilst some Fiat Punto Rally will be brought by several teams apart the TRT Sport Promotion... please click here for more information.

Caldani will miss the Network Q Rally (Nov 9th 2002)

Nicola Caldani won't be able to defnd his third place in the championship in the last round of the Junior World Championship Super 1600, the Network Q Rally of Great Britain, due in England from next November 14th to 17th. It was a silly domestic incident that provoked the distortion of the ankle of the right leg. This distortion penalizes him in any movement.

"Impossible in these conditions to drive the car and to face a serious rally such as the English one - confesses the Versilian driver, who was to partecipate the English event with the Procar Fiat Punto Super 1600. I had some days making therapies and being visited by specialists, but everyone agrees that distortion doesn't allow any kind of movement. I must stop for twenty days. I was at home and I slided a bit. I put badly the foot. Immobilized. This year I demonstrated that in the extreme rounds I was really able to show my best. In particular at the Acropoli and the Sanremo I was often with the best ones of the group. The Rac is well-known a rally where the difficulties are default and therefore with Procar Punto, car tha kept an high degree of reliability, I would have committed well."

For Caldani it's almost impossible to keep the third place in the Junior championship withough defending it in the English round. "Tuohino and Duval are only at one point, and Basso at three points. Those drivers are valuable. I'm really sad to lose that chance and it is probably my last chance to take part the mythical English rally which has always been in my dreams as driver."

Procar and TRT at ADAC Deutschland Rally (Aug 20th 2002)

Procar and TRT with Nicola Caldani go at the Deutschland Rally to confirm the work done in the last months. The Versilia's driver, fifth in the Junior championship is looking for the exploit on the german tarmac.
The world programme of the joint Procar and TRT Sport Promotion in the world Junior championship goes on. The fourth race of the series for the Super 1600 cars will have place from 22nd to 25th August in Germany, at the ADAC Deutschland Rally, a race added this year for the first time in the World Rally Championship table.
The stages, completely on asphalt, are unexplored for the most rallymen and Nicola Caldani, codriven by Dario D'Esposito, fifth in the classification with only three points behind the top, has the possibility to go on podium. An enlightened version of the Fiat Punto Abarth will be given to the Versilian driver, very similar to the car which let Paolo Andreucci win the Italian title in the Super 1600 category at the rally of San Martino di Castrozza.
"Nicola, though he is able to drive quite well on every ground, as any latin driver has an asphalt nature" says Carlo Cassina, the sport director, "and this ability united to the fact the race is unknown for anybody, poses him on the situation he could really go to the podium and that's strategic before running the next Junior race, the Sanremo Rally." "We face a difficult race" says Nicola Caldani "nobody knows it; it will be hard also the the cognitive factor. We are confident in the nature of asphalt experts and the performance that the Fiat Punto lets us to do, the "light" Punto to advance in the classification and, maybe reach the podium, because we are five drivers in only three points".
"After the third standing at the Acropolis" says Caldani "I took part the the Lucca Rally, where I got the second place, looking for learning the most from the Punto I had never driven on the tarmac. These positive feelings have been acquired whom I hope to confirm in Germany and legitimate the efforts of Trt Sport Promotion and Procar".

A special page is available in Puntopower site about the ADAC rally.

Zsolt second in A/6 in the Budapest Rallye in Hungary (Aug 14th 2002)

The first experience of TRT Sport Promotion in Hungary has been concluded positively. At the Budapest Rallye, valid for the European championship with coefficient 2, the local driver Szijj Zsolt, codriven by Dani, made the Hungarian debut of the Fiat Punto Super 1600 of the TRT Sport Promotion, prepared by Paolo Baggio's 2M team. The Hungarian driver got the 20th final position, second in the A/6 class. Only the Saxo by Citroen Hungary driven by Robert Butor was faster than the Fiat Punto driver.
After the first leg driven very carefully because of the heavy raining which made the enjoying and fast tarmac stages in Budapest even more insidious, Zsolt in the second leg increased the beat and paced the other drivers marking good timings.
"I am happy with this experience - said the Speedy Motorsport drivers celebrated by several people - and I really hope this venture with TRT Sport Promotion and the Fiat Punto can keep on".
TRT Sport Promotion verified on the field the high technical and promotional capabilities of the rallies in Hungary, where races like the Budapest Rallye are prepared in a professional and competent way.

Exciting battle in the Super 1600 reign (March 10th 2002)

The absolute victory has been got by Renato Travaglia with the Peugeot 206 WRC. The battle for that victory was not interesting, as it is going to be the the CIR 2002 Italian season, because only one official team is challenging with a WRC car.
The real engage was seen in the Super 1600 category, because more than a dozen of cars is really challenging to determining the best driver and the best car too. Dallavilla, with Vieffe Motorsport's Citroen Saxo, and Andreucci, with the Procar's Punto Rally, battled a lot for two days, although Andreucci was disadvantaged by a puncture during Friday and this didn't let him to be really near to Dallavilla cumulative time during Saturday leg. Galli and Pedersoli, with Punto Rally cars, had good times during the legs and it let them go up in the final standing.
The final classification: 1 Travaglia (Peugeot 206 WRC), 2 Bandieri (Ford Focus WRC), 3 Dallavilla (Citroen Saxo), 4 Andreucci (Fiat Punto Rally), 5 Galli (Fiat Punto Rally), 6 Dati (Subaru Impreza Gr.N).

The CIR classification after the 2nd race, the Rally of Ciocco: 1 Travaglia 13 pt, 2 Navarra 10 pt,3 Grossi 6 pt,3 Bandieri 6pt, 5 Andreucci 4 pt,5 Dallavilla 4 pt, 5 Cantamessa 4 pt.

The Super1600 category of CIR 2002: 1 Andreucci 16 pt, 1 Dallavilla 16 pt, 3 Galli 8 pt.

More information about the rally may be found in the Ciocco's page.

Dallavilla, the Loeb's challenger in the 2001 edition, won't race with the Fiat Punto kit by R&D Motorsport, because the team decided not to develop a 2002 Punto, due to high costs it can't afford. Dallavilla has been engaged by Vieffe, which made available for Andrea Dallavilla the Saxo kit, acquired by Citroen, used by Loeb during the previous season. But the Punto drivers will have to attack to constrast the increased numbers of drivers in the championship. Punto drivers are Basso (Italy), Galli (Italy), Chemin (Italy), Llovera (Andorra), and Roig (Spain). I'll go to Montecarlo on Saturday 19th: expect a great report with several pictures!
