| Rumours on the Grande Punto Abarth |
Turin, 1/6/2007 - After the release of the Grande Punto, expectations of every Fiat fan were increasing month after month, because several sources confirmed that Fiat was working on a uprated top version of the B-segment car appeared on the European market in autumn 2005.
At Termoli Fiat PowerTrain has already completed the preproduction stage of the turbocharged version of the 1.4-liter Starjet. The engine will be outed with different power levels for the Grande Punto and the upcoming Fiat Bravo. It seems that Fiat will release the 1,4 turbocharged engined fueled by gasoline with a 120 HP and a 150 HP max power.
But that's not stuff for us. The real rumour is that AutoExpress showed a picture of the Fiat Grande Punto Abarth, long awaited since a year before the Grande Punto had to appear in the market list.
The Grande Punto Abarth seems it will be powered by a biturbo 1,8-liter gasoline engine, with a max power in the range of 190-205 HPs, enlarged wheel arches, precious lightning packages, and more details that resemble the Grande Punto Abarth Super200, which recently won the European Rally Championship with Giandomenico Basso. | Puntopower will get a major remake in the Users Gallery |
Verona, 1/6/2007 - Several users and visitors of the successful Puntopower.com website complained the fact the website didn't exploit any updates in the news sections and in the gallery.
That's due to the missing spare time of its administrator, who was very reluctant at leaving the Puntopower at the status of the 2004 facts. This means that anybody who would like to help Marco Tenuti to restructure every part of the website is very welcome.
One part, however, that will be substituted in the next weeks is the mechanism and the pages of the PuntoPower users and all the Gallery.
There will be a way, so that any user whose car is shown in the Gallery will get the capability to edit and maintain any shown information, without asking the administrator through e-mail messages. There will be the chance to edit the modifications list and later you may even change or update any picture.

| Punto
Super2000 successful on three targets at the first year |
|
Turin, 12/20/2006 - The Fiat campaign of season 2006 marked
a very successful endstory, mainly written by the strong performance
of the Fiat Punto Super2000 at his worldwide debut. The Italian
manufacturer works team lined up a couple of crews for the Italian
Rally Championship and achieved the victory of the Drivers' Championship
with Paolo Andreucci, codriven by Anna Andreussi. On the European
front Giandomenico Basso and Mitia Dotta conquered the European
title with exciting several victories in a row and ended with the
consequent victory of the newborn International Rally Challenge
backed by the worldwide sport channel Eurosport.
But the upcoming season 2007 will be a bit different, because Paolo
Andreucci will leave the Fiat brand after five years of positive
trendline and he will move to the Ralliart Italy, the Mitsubishi
sponsored national rally team. More...

| Punto
Super2000 will debut at Rally del Ciocco |
|
Orzaglia, 3/16/2006 - Ever since the summer of 2004, Italian
rally fans have been eager to see the return of the leading Italian
automotive names to top-line rally competition. A long tradition
of Fiat brands fighting for glory in world rallying reached a height
of success with Fiat 124/125 in 1970's, rapidly followed by legendary
Lancia Fulvia Coupè and Lancia Stratos in latter part of that decade.
The 1980's was a time that no rally fan in Italy will ever forget,
where the Fiat 131 Abarth opened the door to many titles and victories
which were claimed by Lancia with Lancia Rally 037 and Delta S4,
and then the six constructors' championship titles in-a-row that
were imperiously swept up by that mythical beast of world rallying:
the Lancia Delta Integrale, which appeared in various flavours,
from the first HF to very last awesome 'Evoluzione' specification.
In fact during 2004, Fiat didn't hide its desire to return to the
top level of the world's foremost rally championships, after prominent
rallying activities were undertaken with the nimble, quick little
Fiat Punto Super1600. Fiat's top executives wanted to return to
the World Rally Championship, but only if the FIA would downgrade
the hi-tech packaged World Rally Cars, to something which would
be simpler and cheaper to develop. Then the FIA launched the Super2000
initiative and Fiat immediately embraced the basic idea: building
an all-wheel-drive car, that would cost less than 150,000 euros
to develop, be targeted at private customer teams, would come with
simple engine technology, a 2,000cc atmospheric engine, and with
a common transmission system provided by a mandatory supplier imposed
by FIA, which was chosen in late 2004, as the French firm SADEV.

| World
premiere at Frankfurt |
|
Frankfurt, 9/12/2005 - After the last Monday's official presentation
of Fiat Grande Punto at the Palavela hall in Turin, where the whole
Fiat establishment was present, from Luca Cordero di Montezemolo,
to Jean Todt, the CEO Marchionne, to Lapo Elkann, Fiat is going
to show the Punto Super2000 at the Frankfurt International Car Show
2005.
The eagerly awaited Fiat Punto Super2000 seems to be the first worldwide
official car suited to the upcoming Super2000 Rally variant specifications,
which are being to be published by FIA during mid october. At now
no other car manufacturer presented to the press Super2000 projects,
but there are several rumours of Renault working on a Clio Super2000
and its Romanian counterpart Dacia which is working on the Logan
Super2000 being tested by Simon Jean Joseph.More...

Chivasso, 8/8/2005 - Fiat's potent new rally weapon - the
stunning Super 2000 Punto - has finally broken cover, caught in
the flesh testing at the Balocco proving ground. Photos presented
by Italian specialist magazine SAM (SportAutoMoto) Rally this week,
reveal an aggressive all wheel drive rally car, clearly demonstrating
the lines of the new Punto, with all the trappings of a front-line
rally car: bulging wheel arches, scooped air intakes, a roof spoiler
and air vent, and chunky cut-out bumpers.
The brand new rally car, based on the all-new, Giugiaro-styled Fiat
Punto - which will make its world debut at the Frankfurt IAA next
month - is designed to conform to the FIA's proposed new 'Super
2000' regulations. Built by N.Technology - Fiat Auto's competition's
department - the on-track test and development programme is now
being carried out by factory rally driver Paolo Andreucci, who is
the reigning CSAI Italian Rally Championship Super 1600 title holder.

| 17" wheels on Punto Mk3
|
|
Turin, 8/11/2004 - At Fiat style center, they seem to listen at last the desires of tuning world: one of the basic features a car should have, is the chance to install big wheel, because they make the car really aggressive and racing.
More pictures of the Punto Mk3, a.k.a. as Project 199, are available on the net, since June and there's evidence that those wheels will be a feature nobody of us would give up. More...

|
Luxemburg, 8/11/2004 - Geoffrey Apel, one of the most active and passionate fans of PuntoPower.com sent me some pictures of his own blue sprint Punto HGT Mk2 updated to the revision B.
Geoffrey updated the complete front part, with the Mk2 revision B bumper, the new lights, the new grid mask, and the bonnet. Even the rear part has been updated with new rear lights, the Fiat logo on the centre of the backdoor and other minor details. An interesting update to keep his own car updated to the latest version, like softwares! Click here to see more pictures of Geoffrey's update.

| Biggest
ever meeting at Garda |
|
Garda, 6/29/2003 - For the 1st edition of the Garda Punto meeting in 2002,
I wrote it was probably the biggest meeting for Fiat Punto in the world. For the
2nd edition, the 2003 edition, I have no doubt: it
was the biggest meeting of Fiat Punto ever organized in the world and it was a
great success! The event organizers counted 105 cars, Punto Sporting Mk1, Mk2,
Punto GT, Punto HGT, Punto TD, even some special prototype like Punto owned by
Rasoterra powered by the Fiat Seicento K/0's engine. More...

I started looking for Punto
GT stuff on the Internet since late 1994, but I didn't store anything at those
times. In May '95, I built my first Punto GT home page, but I didn't spend a lot
of time to work on it. Now the project is grown a bit...
My name is Marco Tenuti (my blog); I live in Verona,
Italy. I got my Punto HGT in January 2000. It's
just the perfect car for me: brilliant engine, great handling and a fantastic
feeling. With appropriate modifications, it easily became the appealing rally
roadcar on the trail of the Punto Rally.
Before buying my Punto HGT, I didn't own a Punto GT, although it was my dream,
but my uncle owned it, and he let me drive it whenever I wanted; so I considered
that car mine too.
My uncle got his Punto GT in April 1994. His car hasn't been modified, but the turbo is just turbo: it's a breath, then an hard push up to the limiter!

Perchè Puntopower non è
in italiano?
